Vikings, Mall of Asia

I honestly don't like going to buffets before because I usually don't like the food offered. I'm a such picky person when it comes to food because I was too afraid to try out new food. I (even my parents) felt that if I go to buffets, I would just be wasting money since I would not eat much. But everything changed when I was able to experience the Vikings buffet at Mall of Asia.

It was exactly my birthday last year, (August 17, 2014), when I first tried their buffet. I was worried and excited that day. I actually knew about Vikings from a TV show. They were featured to be one of the must-try buffet in Manila. So I didn't let the opportunity to pass. I planned my birthday dinner with them. It was only then that I found out the birthday celebrants are free provided they are accompanied by one full paying adult.

Reservations

I wasn't able to reserve a seat ahead of time so we tried our luck in the walk-ins. We initially wanted to go for lunch but because there was already a long list of waiting customers, we decided to go for dinner.

You can call the specific branches for your reservations. You can find their respective telephone numbers here. You can also just go to their branch early to have your name listed for the walk-ins. For Mall of Asia, they accept walk-in listing (both for lunch & dinner) as early as 9AM.

There's a holding time for reservations. Holding time is basically the amount of time that they will hold a guests’ reservation. If the guests were to arrive past the allotted time given to them, then their reservation will be given up automatically.

For Vikings branches & for NIU by Vikings, their holding time for lunch is from 11:00 am to 11:30 am, while dinner is from 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm.

Rates & Promos

They have different rates for their branches so I suggest you check them out from this link. But just to give you an idea of the rates for Vikings, Mall of Asia, below are their rates. All prices are subject to 5% service charge.

I believe that the Birthday promo is the famous promo Vikings have. They also have Group Promos, Gift Certificate Discount, and now the OFW Promo. Complete details and other promos per branch can be found here.

Ambiance & Food

Just like other buffets, they have different bars for each food category (ex: meat, chinese, entrees, desserts, etc). They are all well-presented and are always replenished quickly.

It's not as quiet as it looks in my photos. We were on of the first to enter so there wasn't much people yet but once everyone is in, you'll see people walking here and there. It's not quiet but not too noisy. You can still converse with people at a moderate voice.

I personally love their drinks section because it has a lot of choices! I'm a fan of any beverage so this was like heaven for me. Unlimied Milo shake, iced tea, coffee and a lot more! But of course, you shouldn't drink much as it will make you full.

I went gaga over the dimsums too! At the far end are their Chinese dishes. It made me miss home where I grew up eating Chinese cuisines! though I do eat from other Chinese restaurants, the feel of this section is much similar to the one I grew up with so it definitely unleashed my homesick.

I wasn't able to take photos of all the sections because they were easily filled with people. I also wasn't able to take photos of my plate because I was busy eating and chatting with my friends. Haha!
The food were well prepared. The dishes or pieces I tried during our visit were all delicious. I was more than satisfied actually. I couldn't believe I was able to eat so much from this buffet given the fact on my first paragraph.

I was surprised too that they give out small cakes to birthday celebrants. You will wait for the Vikings staff to come to your table, they will light the candle and will sing you their Birthday song. It's actually a fun experience. The staff that came to my table were jolly and funny.

Top 5 Buffet Tips:
1. Don't starve yourself.
2. Take small portions.
3. Skip rice on your first turn.
4. Control your drinking.
5. Eat slow and steady.

Overall Experience

As I mentioned above, I was more than satisfied with my first dine-in with them to an extent I want to keep coming back every August, my birthday month. The food and experience is definitely worth it, if you ask me. And that's something I want to share to my family soon.

Reminder: This is a late post. This was my birthday celebration last year (2014).

Simply pretty

Honestly, I don't know how to describe my outfit last Friday. I wore this top I bought from a thrift store in Papua New Guinea. It was the Jajay's top from this post  while pairing it with my LeDonne pastel pink flats, my BNY jeans and my Sophie Martin bag. To finish up the girly look, I wore my i2i shades. I felt pretty that day. Simple but pretty. :p
