Arun Gogna is a much sought-after national and international lay preacher. He started to preach when he was sixteen years old and though he has a Bachelors Degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from De La Salle University, he has chosen preaching to be his life mission. He is also a recording artist with two Christian albums recently turned platinum namely “Ikaw Lamang” and “Big in God’s Eyes”. He is the author of the best-selling book entitled “Happy Secrets to an Obedient Life”. He is regular columnist of the number one Catholic inspirational magazine in the Philippines, “Kerygma”, and its sister publication “Fish”. He has also been serving for more than half his life in his various capacities as concert director, spiritual adviser, entrepreneur and writer. He is currently an in-house author of the Abiva Publishing Corp., writing Religion textbooks for the High School level.
About his talk
When he was introduced as a preacher and as a motivational speaker, I was expecting him to be talking about scriptures. It's amazing at how he was able to preach and at the same time, relate it to business success.
He started his talk by introducing himself. He explained why his name is Arun with jokes in between. If every speaker starts that way, they will truly get the audience's attention like what he did yesterday.
He spoke about business success and how it should not be entirely about money; it should be about love. He shared is belief that "the purpose of any business is to love people."
He was a very interesting speaker to listen to. He was able to give stories, jokes and continuously entertain + educate the audience effortlessly.
What I learned from it
- Money is essential to business, but it should not just be about it. It should be about love.
- Business owners should love everyone that helps the business: from the co-owners up to the customers.
- Whatever good we give, we get back. That's the law or reciprocity.
- We should love what we do because when we do, it will be fruitful.
- We should surround ourselves with people who uplifts us rather than who brings us down.
- We should believe in ourselves and in the thought that we will be successful because it will somehow encourage us to pursue our dreams.
There's actually a lot more I've learned but I wouldn't put them all in here because I suggest you hear him personally through The Feast Alabang or through his motivational talks which, I guess, you can ask through the contact numbers in his website or better yet, you can even purchase his books!
I didn't plan in staying for the entire event; I was only after taking photographs of the students' outfits but I think it was God's way to tap me and remind me with different things going on in my life right now. God made me meet Bro. Arun for a reason and I think I already know what. :)
