I was one of the lucky bloggers who were invited for lunch at Mati's Meat & Bread last Tuesday, September 8, 2015. Mati's is a subsidiary of Melo's Steakhouse which is known for their Certified Angus Beef. Mati's by the way will be turning a year older soon!
Mati's Meat and Bread caters to the yuppies and families that love steaks and other mouthwatering dishes. They have mastered turning a typical dish to something more delicious and special.
When you walk inside, the very cute chalk board menu will catch your attention. The place is very spacious with high ceilings. The rustic design plus the great view of the River Park made the ambiance more relaxing (and Instagram worthy, lol).
◥ FOOD ◤
It was my first time to try out Mati's. I didn't expect that this lunch would last 4 hours! We were all surprised that they gave us the chance to taste almost everything on their menu!
∞ Starters ∞
We were given these five (5) starters to try first. I really loved the Creamy Spinach Dip & the Papa's Spicy Crispy Wings! The dip was very flavorful and the bread was very crisp. While the papa's wings were very spicy! Though I'm not allowed to eat spicy food, I was able to try it out as Sky (the beautiful person who invited us) found a part that wasn't fully covered with sauce.
If you're a fan of balut, you must try their Balut Aligue which they dub as #PutokBatok. This is one of the dishes that makes this restaurant exciting.
Another dish that would excite you would be the Oyster Rockefeller! The first time I saw it, I knew that if my dad was just next to me, he'd be smiling like a kid who was given a lollipop. The oysters itself was big and in quite a big serving too! For older people, you might need to control yourself.

∞ Pizza ∞
Next served was the pizza! My family and I regularly eat pizza but usually from the usual fast food brands. It was my first time to see in person and taste this kind of pizza; very thin crust and not in a triangular form. Haha!
I thought Bia's Four Cheese would more taste like the other four cheese I have tried and I'm glad I was wrong. It was cheesy but not too much. Hindi nakaka-umay. The Salpicao was very rich with flavor while the Tali's Gamberetti was just everything I wanted; it's now my favorite! It had that strong seafood taste that explodes in your mouth as you chew it.
They served us a pizza that is not yet in their menu. They call it Jala Pestroli. If you look at it, you'd think it would taste like pepperoni pizza but it's completely different. This was said to be very spicy so I didn't dare to try it out.

∞ Salad ∞
Their salads were served so green that you'd think the vegetables are those fake kind used as displays in other establishments. Hehe! It simply shows how fresh their salads are. Their servings were big; really good for sharing. I personally liked the Vince's Chicken Arugula Salad. Just don't be confused; the chicken comes with onion rings, not squid. Hehe!

Vince's Chicken & Arugula Salad - Php225 |
∞ Tacos ∞
As you can see, their tacos are filled with so much ingredients which makes it really palatable. The wrap was soft and chewy. It was well-wrapped that what when you take a bite, it doesn't come loose.

Chorizo with Potato Hash & Cream Cheese - Php275 |
∞ Pasta ∞
I'm a sucker for pasta so I was so excited when we were told there would be pasta coming out. Since I've tasted a lot of pasta across Metro Manila, I became more picky for this kind of dish. I look for a tasteful pasta dish with the right kind of texture and Mati's was able to serve us that kind of dish.
I loved this two pasta dish! In my next visit, I will be ordering these to finish on my own. Haha. I have tried other oil-based pasta and it was usually dry. Well, not for this Seafood pasta. The pasta ways very soft and tasty. As for the Truffle pasta, it's very creamy but not nakaka-umay kind.

Truffle Pasta - Php398 |
∞ Main Course ∞
Before the steaks were served, we were given USDA Salpicao Rice to try. This was a chopped steak served with their rice. The rice was very delicious. I can even just eat the rice! Lol. It was cooked med-rare so some of us had to cook it more using the side table pan; and though med-rare cooked, the steak was still tender.

Next was the USDA Steak and the 300g Certified Angus Ribeye! The entire restaurant was filled with smoke and smell of the steaks cooking. It eventually made each and everyone of us hungry again.
Sir Paul came to our table to help us cook the steaks. This is what I loved about this restaurant; it gives the customers the freedom to cook their steak according to their preference (med-rare, medium or well done). Their USDA Steak comes with mashed potato and vegetables or I guess, you can ask /order a rice instead.

∞ Dessert ∞
After the steak madness, we were served with these sweet treats! Of course, the first thing I tasted was the red velvet. The cake was very moist and had that right blend of flavors to it. Next were the Choco Fudge and Eclair cake. For a sweet tooth, they'll really love the latter as it was very chocolaty and sweet. It was topped with a mango to balance the taste.
Red Velvet Cake - Php250 |
Choco Fudge - Php220 |
Eclair Cake - Php250 |
∞ Sandwich ∞
Before the lunch ended, these two sandwiches were brought down for merienda. It actually wasn't us anymore; it was for the owners, Sir Paul & Ma'am Caron Macasaet. We just took photos of it. Definitely, in my next visit, I'll be trying that Grilled Cheese sandwich however, I hope I can request for a different soup.

◥ SERVICE ◤
Though this was an invite, we were able to experience the kind of service they have. The staff were very knowledgeable of the food they serve. They know what it consists of, the idea of what it tastes like and even the right spelling of the names. They were very accommodating! I was the first to arrive and Mr. Joseph Edoria, the branch manager told me to enter and wait inside. It was such a nice gesture of him thinking I was hours earlier than scheduled.
I believed that if the management handles the business and its people well, it reflects in the kind of service they offer. Being able to interact with Mr. Paul and Mrs. Caron Macasaet, I realized how their kindness and professionalism really reflects on their staff.

◥ OVERALL ◤
Our time at Mati's Meat and Bread was a very tasteful and memorable lunch! It was my first time to eat there and it will denitely won't be my last! I plan to take my parents here sometime soon!
It's just amazing how they were able to add so much flavor to everything they serve. Moreover, they're able to bring some twist in the usual dishes or food we eat. A really great example would be the #PutokBatok.
We were told that the family creates almost everything they serve; from the bread down to the desserts! Isn't it just wonderful to eat in a restaurant such as this that serves delicious, quality food which are created by the owners themselves?
What more can you ask from Mati's, right? Good people + excellent food choices + comfortable ambiance = great dining experience!
